Originally appeared in the magazine The Realist, March 1965. This story was the first piece of fiction ever printed in The Realist. Bilker was subsequently invited to read the piece for a Pacifica tape for their listener-supported stations in New York, Berkeley, and Los Angeles. It was later turned into a one-hour musical with music by Rod Levitt.
Appears in the collection Strange Bedfellows (1972).
