(IBList user synopsis):
Arthur Bechstein, the son of a top-level Baltimore gangster and fresh out of college, has one last summer before yielding to adulthood. Through a chance encounter, he becomes fast friends with Arthur Lecomte, a witty, urbane gay man, who in turn introduces him to Cleveland, a wild rich kid who works as a collector for a loan shark. Arthur also becomes involved with Phlox, a co-worker of Lecomte and an ex-punkette who now affects the styles of old movie stars. Though Arthur spends most of his nights with Phlox, he is even more beguiled by Lecomte and Cleveland and their world. As summer draws to a close, Arthur experiences tragedy, learns painful lessons about love and asserts his own identity.
