400 pages of what a select panel of Smith's friends and admirers considered to be the best pieces and excerpts from his writings from 1941 to 1969. Though we picture the more interesting paperback cover (illustrated by Robert Grossman) we recommend investing in a hardback copy, because a typical Pocket Book copy, after 30 years or so of hard reading, tends to begin to fall apart. (The dust jacket of the hardcover edition is bright yellow and sports a picture of a young Mark Twain saying "Bravo!")
