Marco is the first senior to ask Izzy out. At the party he drinks too much and runs his car into a tree. He receives only minor injuries, but Izzy is crippled for life.
Now everything in Izzy's life is different. Her friends, for instance: she can't remember when they had trouble talking to each other. Now each encounter is filled with painful silences. Even Izzy's older brothers no longer speak to her in a normal way, and her younger sister is mad because the accident means Izzy gets a lot of attention.
And then there's Rosamunde. How do you explain her? Before, Izzy hardly even knew her. Now she spends a lot of time in Izzy's hospital room- brings her things, plays games with her. Strange. But then, nothing is the same....
