An undine is a watersprite, a nymph with the unique ability to assume human form. In common with all spirits they lack a human soul, but stand to gain one by marrying a mortal. In that way, nature and the supernatural are fused together. But if the undine is rejected by her spouse, and she is close to water, then her human soul is lost.
