On a summer day in a Midwestern city Parker lobs a firebomb through a plate glass window, while his companions take down a nearby bank. Then after the heist, Parker's partners suddenly stiff him for his share of the take. They should have given him his cut, or killed him. For soon Parker is ricocheting through the American South in a stolen car, carrying a loaded gun, and planning to assault his former partners-in-crime at the site of their next target-a little spot loaded with uncounted jewels called Palm Beach. But the one detail he couldn't foresee is that a very bad and dangerous man is tailing him....aiming to put out Parker's fire for good.
