Fox and his fearsome crew make the sands of the Egyptian desert sodden red with Fench blood as they open the door to Cairo for the English army.

But their prize is a troublesome band of French prisoners, led by the vile Colonel Pithiviers, whose hatred of England is exceeded only by his loathing of Fox.

And when his ship, Alkon, is separated from the fleet and a French privateer looms on the horizon, the love of Agnes Linnett and the wiles of Fox are put to the test.
