A Confederacy of Dunces is about Ignatius J. Reilly, a "Huge, obese, fractious, fastidious" fellow. It chronicles his misadventures in New Orleans, peppered with a number of comic but true to life characters from the depths of the French Quarter. The dialogue is what you would expect to hear folks saying outside the Prytania or at the Rock N' Bowl, very true to New Orleans.
