Biography:

Joan Silber teaches at Sarah Lawrence College and at the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers. She has won a PEN/Hemingway Award and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. She has been a finalist for both the National Book Award and The Story Prize. Her stories have appeared in Ploughshares and The New Yorker, among other places. They have been included in the O. Henry Prize Stories, the Pushcart Prize, and The Scribner Anthology of Contemporary Short Fiction. In 2007 Silber received a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Joan Silber lives in New York City.
