Pam Durban is the author of The Laughing Place and All Set About With Fever Trees. She has received numerous awards including a Whiting Writer's Award. Her stories have been included in The Best American Short Stories, New Stories from the South, and The Best American Short Stories of the Century. A native of South Carolina, she is the Doris Betts Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
