Since her father was in the army, Johanna Lindsey was born in Germany, where he had been stationed at the time. Due to her father's position with the army, Ms. Lindsey spent the early years of her life on the move. In 1964, her family settled in Hawaii, and Johanna says that she cannot imagine living anyplace else. She is the mother of three and a grandmother.
Johanna Lindsey was a fan of romance novels herself. She wrote her first book on a whim. "I started writting as a hobby," she says. "I never thought of being a writer when I was young. Now I wouldn't want to do anything else."
