Isaac Rosenfeld was born in Chicago in 1918. He took a degree at the University of Chicago and then moved to New York, wher he briefly studied philosophy at New York University and began to publish short stories. His novel, Passage from Home, appeared in 1946. After a period of teaching at the University of Minnesota her returned to Chicago, and soon thereafter, in 1956, he died of a heart attack. A posthumous collection of his stories, Alpha and Omega, appeared in 1966.
