Biography:
Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (1814-1873) is still one of the most widely read of the nineteenth century ghost story writers. He based many of his tales on actual occurrences and in so doing introduced the Irish people to not a few of their own legendary hauntings. He spent most of his life in Dublin, and was first contributor to, later editor owner, of the Dublin University Magazine, now a veritable treasure-trove for those interested in the macabre and the supernatural.
