Biography:

pseudonym of Brian Ó Nualláin (Brian O'Nolan).
Irish novelist and humorist (1911-1966). He attended University College in Dublin and gained notoriety after publishing an obscene epic in Old Irish, escaping punishment because the prosecuting authorities, including the president of the college, could not read the ancient tongue. Two novels secure his fame: At Swim-Two-Birds (1939) and The Third Policeman (published posthumously in 1967 because he could not find a publisher during his lifetime).
