Sara Henderson Hay won the 1951 Edna St. Vincent Millay Award for The Delicate Balance and the Pegasus Award for The Stone and the Shell (1961). Other titles include her first book of poems, Field of Honor (1933), A Footing on the Earth: New and Selected Poems (1966), and the classic fairy-tale collection Story Hour (1963).
