Manuel Bernabe Mujica Láinez. 1910-1984

Manuel Mujica Láinez lives in Argentina and is one of South America's most distinguished authors. He has written numerous novels, biographies, and short stories. Among his works are Los Cisnes, El Gran Teatro, and Los Porteńos, as well as the brilliant historical novel BOMARZO, which inspired the opera of the same name. He is a member of the Argentine Academy of Letters and the National Academy of Fine Arts, and his awards include Argentina's First National Prize of Letters, the John F. Kennedy Prize, the Premio Gerchunoff, and he is the current recipient of the Legion d'Honneur in France.
