Agha Shahid Ali, a noted translator as well as poet, was born in New Delhi, India, grew up in Kashmir, and emigrated to the US in his early twenties. His books include Rooma Are Never Finished (2001), The Country Without a Post Office (1997), A Nostaglist's Map of America (1991), and The Half-Inch Himalayas (1987).
