Ian Serraillier was born in London; his ancestors were of French and Scottish descent. A schoolmaster for many years, his main interest is in writing for young people, both fiction and poetry. He lives, with his wife, three daughters, and son, at the foot of South Downs in his favorite country, Sussex.
