Born in the East End of London, Charlotte spent her early childhood moving from relative to relative to escape the bombings of World War II. After working as a secretary in the BBC's European department, she married a political reporter who wrote for the Times.
Charlotte and her family most recently lived in a beautiful home on the Isle of Man. She died in 2000.
