Biography's Source:

Colleen McCullough was born in Wellington in Central West New South Wales in 1937.

A neuroscientist by training, she worked in various Sydney and English hospitals before settling to ten years of research and teaching in the Department of Neurology at the Yale Medical School in the USA.

Her novels include "Tim", "The Thorn Birds", "Indecent Obsession" and her latest, "Morgans Run", the first involving a character from her present-day home, Norfolk Island.

She is also writing the Masters of Rome series. The depth of historical research in the Roman novels led to her being created a Doctor of Letters by Macquarie University in 1993.

She is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and serves (with Dr Henry Kissinger and others) on the Board of Visitors of the International Programs Center of the Department of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma.

In the late 1970s she settled on Norfolk Island, where she lived with her husband.

McCullough died 29th January 2015.
