Richard Bachman died in 1985 of a cancer of the pseudonym. His widow, Claudia Inez Eschelman, discovered the manuscript of The Regulators, along with some other writings, in the attic of the Bachman residence in New Hampshire. Both Thinner and The Bachman Books are available in paperback, the latter with a new introduction by Stephen King.
