Dallas McCord "Mack" Reynolds (USA, 1917 - 1983) was born November 11 in Corcoran, California. An avid reader of science fiction, he had his first story published in 1950; his first novel, The Case of the Little Green Men
, a mystery set at a science fiction convention, came out the next year. He was once voted most popular author by the readers of Galaxy
magazine. An avowed "militant radical", he used his fiction to speculate on solutions to socio-economic and political problems. A world traveler, he made his home in Mexico most of the time after the early 1950's.
