Janet Campbell Hale, a member of the Coeur d'Alene tribe of Northern Idaho, is a prominent writer, poet, and teacher. Her writings have appeared in numerous periodicals and anthologies, particularly those that explore Native American and other multicultural issues. Her fictional The Jailing of Cecelia Capture was nominated for a Pulitzer prize and other literary awards. The mother of two grown children, Aaron Nicholas and Jennifer Elizabeth, Hale lives in New York with her husband, Muhammad Ashraf.
