Biography's Source:

Dublin-born Leonard Patrick O'Connor Wibberley (1915-1983), educated in Ireland and England, abandoned his education in the 1930's to become a reporter in London. He spent some time in Trinidad before serving in WWII, and moved to the United States in 1943, doing journalism in New York and Chicago before finally settling in California. He is best known by adults for his satirical novels about the tiny Duchy of Grand Fenwick, whose political problems illuminate those of larger nations. He wrote the noted Treegate series of young adult historical novels, covering the American Revolution and the War of 1812, and more than 50 children's books, "for the child inside myself".
