Ardath Frances Hurst Mayhar, born 1930, began writing fantasy and science fiction in the late 1970's . She has also written young adult and children's novels, westerns (as Frank Cannon) mountain man novels (as John Killdeer) and four prehistoric Indian books under her own name. Widowed after forty-one years of marriage, Mahar in her seventies works in her home office in East Texas, editing, teaching, and writing.
