Biography:

Michael P. Kube-McDowell was raised in Camden, New Jersey. He attended Michigan State University as a National Merit Scholar, and holds a master's degree in science education. Since 1979, his stories have appeared in numerous magazines, including Analog, Asimov's, Amazing, Twilight Zone, and Fantasy and Science Fiction, as well as in various anthologies. Mr. Kube-McDowell's novelette "Slac//" was selected as one of the ten best SF stories of 1981. His horror-fantasy story "Slippage" was similiarly honored in 1983, and later filmed for the television series "Tales From the Darkside". Mr. Kube-McDowell has been a guest at science fiction conventions from Florida to California, and currently lives in Goshen, Indiana with his wife and son. Emprise was his first novel.
