B.S. Ingemann (1789-1862), the father of the Danish novel. For the Danes, Ingemann is a celebrated literary figure, and his works are well known to every child, youth and adult in Denmark. His themes are all taken from the historical events of the Middle Ages, their chief characters being national heroes and heroines.
