Biography:

Small, fierce, furry pseudonym of Alice Sheldon (James Tiptree, Jr). The present state of Raccoona scholarship here at IBList indicates the following stories and dates for this author. More details are expected soon.

  • Angel Fix (long short story), (Worlds of) IF, July/August 1974
  • Beaver Tears (short story), Galaxy, May 1976
  • Your Faces, O My Sisters! Your Faces Filled of Light! (ss), Aurora: Beyond Equality, Fawcett, 1976
  • The Screwfly Solution (ss), Analog, June 1977 (Nebula winner)
  • Morality Meat (nv), Despatches from the Frontiers of the Female Mind, The Women's Press, 1985
  • The Earth Doth Like a Snake Renew (nv), apparently written in 1973 but not published until May 1988 in Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine (v12 #5).

There are indications that the pieces "Press Until the Bleeding Stops" and "Painwise in Yucatan" were originally published as by Raccoona Sheldon in the fanzine Khatru in 1975 and '76, but this is not yet confirmed. Please see Comment! link to leave information.
