Canadian poet, novelist, and songwriter of note, born Leonard Norman Cohen in Montreal on September 21st, 1934. In 1991 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, and in early 2003 received the title of Companion of The Order of Canada, Canada's highest civil honor.
