Biography's Source:

Ivan Andreyevich Krylov was born near St. Petersburg in 1769. He wrote primarily fables, but also wrote plays and operas, translated works of Jean de La Fontaine. He was a friend of Alexander Pushkin's, whose opening line in Evgenyi Onegin is a reworking of a line from Krylov. He died in St. Petersburg on 21 November 1844.
