Biography's Source:

American Southern author, 1916-1990. A novelist of distinction, Percy won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 1983 for his nonfiction work, Lost in the Cosmos: The Last Self-Help Book. His previously uncollected nonfiction pieces were published after his death as Signposts in a Strange Land.

Walker Percy was awarded a 1967 grant from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, both the Campion Award and the St. Louis Literary Award for 1986, and the 1988 Ingersoll Foundation T.S. Eliot Award for Creative Writing.
