Best known for his work in the fantasy and role-playing genres, James also dabbles in short stories and youth oriented novels.

An expatriate of New England, Lowder now resides in Wisconsin with his wife, a flock of zebra finches, and two seriously twisted cats. He writes too slowly, spends too much time on-line, and occasionally teaches writing and publication classes at a local college.
