Angela Thirkell wrote over 30 novels, most of them set in the imaginary Barsetshire, England, a century or so after Trollope, which where immensely popular in the mid 20th century.
The dicline of nobility in England between the first and second World War are written with such whit, such humour, that hardly has met it's match so far.
Angela Thirkell (1890-1961) came from a background where pre-rafaelites, authors, artists and politicians socialized in a time of great art, great revolutions and changes in society.
her books therefore give a glimpse of life during those times, sometimes refering to the events of those times like rizing facism in Germany and even the UK.
Angela's books are also a treasure for Dickens fan's of whom many quote's are taken, being one of Angela's favorite authors.
Though in some cases compaired with Barbara Cartland, her writing is of a complete different style, with only a little of the romantic glitter of Cartland.
