Biography:
Oliver Goldsmith was born in 1728 in County Longford, Ireland. He is best known for the poem The Traveller (1764), the novel The Vicar of Wakefield (1766), and the play She Stoops to Conquer (1773). In addition he wrote newspaper and magazine articles, children's books, essays and sketches. Goldsmith died on April 4, 1774.
