(1930-1983) James Wade was born in Illinois. After Army service in Korea, he settled in Seoul in 1960. He was a college professor, voluntary agency executive, journalist and advisor to the information programme of the Korean government. His book, One Man's Korea appeared in Seoul in 1967, and his articles saw print in Musical America, High Fidelity, Variety, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and many other periodicals in Korea, England and the United States. His symphonic and chamber music has been performed in many countries, and he completed an opera based on Richard E. Kim's best-selling novel of the Korean War, The Martyred.
