Donald E(dward) Keyhoe 1897-1988. Began writing in 1922 while convalesing from a plane crash received while in the Marine Corps. After the Second World War became an acknowlegdged expert on UFO's, and wrote the best-selling "The Flying Saucers are Real" in 1950.
