Biography:
1883-1924
Franz Kafka was born in Prague in 1883. Kafka took his law degree in 1906 at the German University of Prague and later secured a minor position with the Austrian government. During his lifetime only a small portion of Kafka's writings were published. Before his death, of tuberculosis, in 1924, Kafka requested of his friend Max Brod that he burn his remaining manuscripts. However, Brod published all of them, and later edited Kafka's diaries. Many of his letters and notebooks have also been published.
