Heinz G. Konsalik is the pen name of Heinz GŁnther, born on May 28th, 1921 in Cologne, Germany. (Konsalik is actually the family name of his mother.)

His first stories were already published in 1936 at when he was 15, but soon World War II arrived, and Konsalik became a war-correspondent in Russia. There he was wounded at the front, but he survived, and it changed him completely.

The cruelty and destructive power of war became the most important topic in his books. Titles like "Doctor of Stalingrad" and "Strike Force Ten" have been read by millions of people around the world.

However, while the public adored his books, critics haven't always been positive about Konsalik's books. But with his books translated in more than 40 languages, and 9 of them already adapted to the silver screen, he has won his place among the public's favorites, and won't easily be forgotten.

Konsalik died in 1999, on October 2nd, in the city of Salzburg.
