Patricia Wentworth was born Dora Amy Elles in Mussoorie, India in 1878.
She was a contemporary of Agatha Christie and her major sleuth, Miss Maud Silver, bears a resemblance to Christie's Miss Marple.
Wentworth wrote over 60 novels between 1928 and her death in 1961.
