Samantha had the best possible upbringing for an author — her parents owned their own bookshop. Samantha started reading at the age of four, and the bookshop became a second home where she spent many an afternoon cocooned in a quiet corner, devouring yet another story. She has never lost her voracious appetite for the written word and is still an avid reader.
Early career moves included a BSc in computer science and then (three years dealing with computers having been more than enough) a wide variety of jobs throughout her twenties. All of her spare time was spent writing stories and (always unfinished!) books. Samantha eventually found the discipline to finish a book as well as the courage to face rejection, and she sent a manuscript off to Harlequin. That was her first sale and she's been finishing books ever since.
Even though her books are set in America, Samantha herself lives in Ireland where she was born and raised. She says there's no difficulty in writing characters from a different country because love, with all of its ups and downs, is a common human experience, no matter where you live.
Samantha has a deep love for her native Ireland and now lives in Galway, where, if she's not writing or reading, she's probably riding horses.
