Charles Templeton is the author of the widely translated international bestseller, The Kidnapping of the President. Mr. Templeton has earned distinction as a newspaperman, television and radio broadcaster, churchman, playwright and author. He began his long career in journalism as a sports cartoonist for the Toronto Globe and Mail. After twenty years working for the church in Canada and the United States, he returned to journalism in 1959. Within two years of joining the Toronto Star, he was appointed Executive Managing Editor, resigning in 1964 to contest the leadership of the Liberal party in Ontario. In 1969, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Maclean's magazine. He has been Director of News and Public Affairs for the Canadian Television Network and has acted as host and moderator on many television programs in Canada and the United States. Mr. Templeton has written numerous plays and documentaries, many of which have been produced on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and, overseas, by the BBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
